‘Andy Roo’ VFX Test

This project was a way to get more experience working with VFX programs such as Nuke, while also exploring how to make a cg character appear physical in a natural scene. As an added challenge, I had the footage shot with a fairly shaky camera, and did not include any obvious markers for later motion tracking.

In order to put this together, I needed to bring together several processes such as xGen fur generation, color grading, masking and motion tracking in Nuke, as well as composition assembly in After Effects.

The decision to display this clip alongside a breakdown of my production process was made after receiving feedback from other people. Generally I would get a stronger reaction out of people after showing them the process within Nuke, stepping them through the individual nodes.
